Am I the only one noticing that along with cutting the budget game they have majorly cut the prizes for the salary cap game? Only top 10 OA get prizes, whereas last year it was top 250 got something, and top 100 or 200 got back the $25 it cost to pay. That's a big, big change.
Plus, in the salary cap game you still can't use unlisted players ever, which should change imo since budget is gone.

Broxton threw 48 in that game against the Yankees and I think that was the highest of the year to that point. Brian Wilson threw 42 pitches against the Red Sox earlier this year.

That's such a huge improvement and that he's sustained it for 4 months months is hard to believe. I never really considered adding him as I figured he'd come back to earth - which hasn't happened.

Hamilton wasn't awful in that slot earlier in the year with a .273 average and seven homers in 35 games. Still, that pales in comparison to his .411 average and 13 homers in 52 outings while batting fifth.
You guys crack me up sometimes. Hamilton has turned into an MVP candidate hitting 5th and Cruz is ripping it up in his slot yet you criticize the manager for his lineups? I don't get that one. Feel free to rip on someone like the Mariners manager who can't seem to get his club playing worth a crap this year. I'm not a big fan of Washington either but come on, lets call it like it is. Dude has done a hell of a job this year and despite some injuries, Texas is right in the thick of the battle.

Aarsdma and Broxton are killing me but I told myself I wasn't dropping a healthy closer this year. That strategy doesn't seem to be working so good. I may have to rethink that one. Add in two zeros to his average and he's now down to around 16 pts per game (I know it won't show up like this in research but it's the result of what's happened). 16 ppg out of a pitcher at his salary certainly doesn't hurt but it doesn't help that much either and now you have a rookie pitcher on the dl who even if he does come back will be babied even more than he was before.

I know DBS and Helmet are 2 of the few posters that don't own Strasburg - and you guys caught a major break this week. Funny thing is, despite the injury I'm real glad I've owned Stras ... he's the #3 SP in ppg since he was called up June 8th - only C.C. Sab & Cliff Lee are ahead of Stras - and his salary is miles below them. He's had 9 starts - averaged about 20 ppg - all of us who bought him made out very nicely for about 7 weeks.

During an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Thursday morning, Nationals manager Jim Riggleman said that Stephen Strasburg (shoulder) will not start Sunday and will most likely be shut down for the next 10 days.
There's a chance he could hit the disabled list now, but Riggleman doesn't expect Strasburg to be shut down for the rest of the year. There was only inflammation found in the shoulder, so it sounds like the Nationals are just being extra cautious right now.

Zobrist is another one who seems to be worse than he is. Both are way low in HRs, but both Mauer & Zobrist score a lot of runs, walk a lot, and drive in some runs. Mauer is a doubles machine and Zobrist steals a lot. They both get decent points despite the lack of power. Posey & Santana are certainly better values ... but Mauer might have a nice second half. He's close to 3.5 ppg, and could end up 3.7 or 3.8 ppg - about what I hoped for. Not great - but that won't kill me.

07/27 12:37:00 bb9 The Helmet Heads Fanball has been screwy for awhile now. I had Snapdraft money in my account randomly going up and down for a few days for no reason. I think it ended up where it should be, but I don't keep track of detailed stats like all you guys do. So now I wonder if this team was effected by incorrect stats or phantom cumulative points problems. For all I know they deleted this team and put it back before I noticed - missing hundereds of points (like they did to that other guy who posts here). And I've definitely had times where I get players who I didn't pick in Snapdraft. But there I assumed it was because of the great slowdown/lag since they reprogrammed the selection screen. I guess they are trying to sabotage the games this year, so they won't have to explain why they are changing them next year...

Who doesn't love the instant gratification of a brand new buy slugging 2 HRs, or getting the W with 10 Ks? The flip side of that is instant disappointment. I had Mauer, Wieters and Wainy starting for this team. Monday morning I changed that to Napoli, Posey and Doc, using a buy in the process. Then just hours later Mauer and Wieters combine for 34 pts (Napoli and Posey total 2) and Wainy gets moved up into a 2x. Thems the breaks, and surely other teams got hit with similar, but *sigh*.

If I had the buys I would of done it as well. The Wainwright news dosen't hurt him since he dosen't have him either. Now though he only has 3 left but his team looks healthy and good. He may not win the overall but his team will finish very well. He is on top, until he gets caught. I got within 20 pts but that was as close as I got now he has widened it to about 70. At this point no reason to go with a Mauer and V-Mart if Posey and Santana can keep avg around 3.4 pts a game.

Seriously, I think his patience has been great, but in my opinion he's also been smart by making most of his moves at offense. I've always felt that you can gain more points by replacing a weak hitter than by chasing doubles. And if you select a good pen and avoid making moves there, like he has, then you have more moves for offense.

I did on 2 teams which ironically Wainwright is sitting on the bench. Like I said earlier this game is waring on me...atleast I have him in on over half my teams but it was sure luck.

Carrying four catchers with Mauer & V-Mart, but I needed the cap relief from the two rookie catchers. They let me get in A-Rod, Tex and Fielder so I don't stupidly decide to sit the wrong one. Plus, with Seattle out of it, I was worried that Aardsma would be traded to a set-up role. Without that concern, he hasn't exactly been helping with his 2 saves in the last month.

Also even after adjusting for the above the previous week's YTD plus this week is short 2 to 5 points for all of my teams (5).

07/25 19:53:16 bb7 Sunday In The Park I've occasionally had trouble being able to make roster changes. I've disocvered that if you go to the "My Teams and Leagues" on the right side of the page, and then hit "modify" next to the team you want to change, that brings up the team to make changes. Hope that helps if any of you are still having problems.
07/25 19:43:17 mm12 Mid Helmet Heads I guess they decided not to wait until next year to end the CDM type baseball games. I was just in the process of making a zillion changes, but then it suddenly switched over to the all star break and said deadline has passed. If they don't fix this soon they can just refund me my money for this team (entry fee and last weeks fee for changes). I did changes for all my other teams early - this is the only one I waited on since it has a transaction charge. And now I can't do the changes I need to do.

I called and got a recording giving their new hours...Sun is 5PM to 9PM (it's 6:45 when I call) and then it says leave a message. What a joke this place is now.

They have 9 defenses and 8 kickers listed in their top 100 (ahead of guys like Kolb and E. Manning). How many of you have ever drafted those positions that early in a draft? Autodrafters beware.

07/25 14:09:09 bb50 The Helmet Of Mac I do not plan to play a combined Free/Budget Baseball game. I hate unlimited moves and drop the worst 6 weeks format. It takes all the fun out of the game if when you check your stats you have no real idea where you stand until the very end. I will probably play it for Football though since you don't have to worry about 2Xers and such so it is a little less crazy. If they have a transaction fee points Baseball game next year I will probably play it unless the payouts get worse. Not sure about Baseball Roto. I have proven to suck at it, so I should probably stay clear...
07/25 12:54:13 m22 MONGREL This is gonna suck...not having a game,that I have loved playing,even though I have mostly donated to over the past 15 years.The money spent imo was not lost,I always looked at it as a chance to win something by catching lightning in a bottle.I however will missed the back and forth among the posters,and no matter it be a confrontation,or just a friendly good luck or an opinion it was truly entertainment.They may still sucker me into paying for a transaction fee game for the enjoyment of the banter.e.g just enter for the bbs,and use this as a forum to let everyone know how we are doing in other games.Also just a way to keep in touch with long time aquaintances.Worth 30 buck just for posting priveledges comes out to less tha ten cents a day.....just a thought.
07/25 12:43:22 m22 MONGREL Gnats: Thanks.I pretty much knew what the reasoning is,about ten years ago a afriend of mine in AC after getting caught in a crossfire of raises between two non- english speaking poker players threw himself on the pot that was being shipped to one of the colluders,he called the floorperson and told him that what they were doing and that he had told the dealer twice and the dealer did not act.My buddy who was fluent in the language being spoken allowed them to build the pot for him which he won with a pair of jacks to the colluders full house.I just wantedto hear ECB 's thoughts.

The problem is collusion. For all the English-only speakers around the table knew, these guys were telling each other what cards they held - a distinct advantage. In real baseball it is a long year for the tribe, but figure they will move Kearns, Jhonny, and Westbrook next week and continue to develop young players that we can keep for six or seven years. Too bad that Kerry Wood is untradeable. On the fantasy front, as it is with many of us, it is nice to have hung on while the likes of VMart, Ellsbury, Utley,Choo etc have been on the bench but appear ready to return soon.

07/25 09:29:19 bt29 Comfortably Numb MKS---There is no other CAP game like this one, there are a few that are trans fee games but they come nowhere close to the setup of these games. I would guess they'll do what they did with FB and just make the Salary Cap game the cheap points game, but it will be unlimited changes and the "best of" format like the "new" FB one. Actually since you could change your whole lineup every week it would be great for you because you could dump your so-called underproducing players weekly. :>)

I wish we can find something like this somewhere else. I might suck because I'm in the 900 spot but this the only game that I really like. Just hit the 9 race EX and just seeing what it pay.
